5 ways to transition your wardrobe for Spring Style

Even though it’s still very cold outside and despite the fact we even had snow this week in the Midlands, I am still dreaming of my spring fashion!

I love the softer and lighter colour palettes that we start to see in stores for the new season ahead! It’s nice to see an end to wearing the darker tones and bring out the brighter side of our style.
You can use pieces that you already have in your wardrobe to freshen up any look and today I am going to show you 5 ways to get that ‘spring’ into your step! J

                                              1.  Add a pop of colour

Adding a splash of colour to your outfit will instantly lift it and brighten up those dark and drab days. Although the weather isn’t exactly sun dress appropriate, we can transition our wardrobes simply by playing with colour!
So on Sunday in true ‘Blogger’ style I wanted to photograph my outfit of the day so I stepped outside to capture my white backdrop! J
Here I just added a mustard jacket to a darker animal print skirt and it just makes the outfit look a lot more cheerful!

I was just heading for dinner in the car so obviously if I had to brave this cold weather I would add a cosy polo neck and a nice big scarf and maybe tights too – LOL J

                                              2Wear more animal print

Animal print is everywhere for SS19 fashion – it is almost like a new neutral!! You can wear it in your coats, shoes, handbags, dresses or skirts. If you want to stay on trend this season, get yourself some animal print! I have an article on ‘5 ways to style animal print’ over on my blog now www.thestyleflamingos.com if you want to check that out!

Honestly there is nothing quite like these prints to make a bold fashion statement and really brighten that OOTD (outfit of the day!).
I adore this green leopard print jumpsuit – just had to take a selfie in the dressing room at Marks & Spencers!! J

This is such a statement look and perfect for a nice night out or any spring occasion! The great news its only €60!

3Put a ‘spring’ into your accessories

Add a colourful handbag or bright shoes to give that added dimension to your look! Accessories can really brighten up an otherwise dark or monochromatic look! Add orange or red to your polka dots and just watch your style come to life! Maybe add some bright coloured jewellery to make your look pop! The statement earring is huge this season!

Or take some style inspo from the ever chic Victoria Beckham adding her bright bold colour Hermes handbag to an otherwise neutral toned outfit!

4. A statement print headband

Why not get involved with the headband trend and liven up a plain or basic colour outfit with a lift in your hair accessories. How stunning does Kate Middleton look in her green velvet headband – it just instantly makes her whole look more perfect!

Perhaps try a block colour if you are nervous of the trend at first and for those of you who are braver why not add a statement print to your hair band or head scarf!

I love this chain print one from Penneys – it really gives me such Versace vibes and for only €3!

5Wearing a neutral palette

A few weeks ago I published my article on the ‘#50 Shades of beige trend’ and asked the question ‘is beige the new black?!’ Honestly I think the answer is ‘yes’ especially when it comes to this transitional period in fashion. We can see more beige, creams and other earthy tones popping into our wardrobes! It’s such a beautiful colour palette – so elegant and fresh!

So what better way to bring your clothes to life this season by adding some classic neutral tones to your style!

White is a stunning colour – one which looks perfect in high summer and when the sun makes more of an appearance. Cream or beige is a better option for this in between time before the sun greets us! It looks stunning on a drab March day or on that perfect spring day just like the first day of the month where the sun shone and everyone’s spirits were up!
Stay timeless, on trend and transitional with some earth tones in your coat, your footwear and even in your denim!

Cant wait to see pictures of you transition your style for spring! Enjoy adding the splash of colour!

Oscars Style 2019

‘Whether you win or lose, or whether you were even nominated, everyone will remember what you were wearing’ – Vogue Magazine

The Academy Awards is one of the top nights of the year for glitz and glam so everyone’s eyes were on the red carpet as the celebrities made their entrances!

I was up early this morning to pick my best dressed winners of the Oscars style - so here are my top 10!

     Lady Gaga

My number 1 has to go to Lady Gaga who wowed the red carpet in a classic and timeless black Alexander McQueen gown! Her looks seemed very inspired by Audrey Hepburn and that old Hollywood glam perfection. She added elbow length black gloves for added drama and donned the 128 carat Tiffney & Co yellow diamond necklace!

    Regina King

Regina looked breathtakingly beautiful in her simply elegant yet sexy white Oscar de la Renta gown! The leg slit just added some drama to her otherwise simple gown!

The internet this morning is asking has Regina out shone Angelia Jolie in her Versace black side slit gown in 2012?! Angelia was famous for the forward leg pose which later became known as the ‘Angelina’! I think Regina has done it!

 J Lo

Jo Lo has rocked the red carpet in this stunning Tom Ford mirrored gown! She looks so beautiful – this really stood out to me!

Laura Harrier

Laura, the BlackkKlansman Actress stuns in this pastel blue sequin Louis Vuitton dress! Laura explained on the red carpet that all parts of her gown were ethically sourced so this beautiful Louis dress is not only fashionable but environmentally friendly!

 Emilia Clarke

The Star Wars and Game of Thrones Actress looked effortlessly chic in this amazing lavender sequin Balmain gown! The cinched waist and ruched detail is so flattering on her shape and gives such an elongated effect to her silhouette.

    Michelle Yeoh

Michelle, the Crazy Rich Asians star simply wows us in her Princess Elie Saab gown! She is like a real life Cinderella in her metallic sequin dress! She really brought the glam to the red carpet yesterday evening!

    Emma Stone

Emma looks incredible in this rose gold exaggerated sleeve dress! She looks so chic & elegant in this custom design Louis Vuitton!

    Charlize Theron

I thought Charlize brought such elegance and beauty to the red carpet yesterday in this stunning pastel blue body-con open back Dior couture gown! She just looked so demure in the high neck and long sleeves but added some glam with the Bvlgari Serpenti collection jewellery that she chose to wear!

Helen Mirren

Helen is such a classic beauty and just shone last night in this beautiful floaty pink Baz Bamigboye gown with contrasting cream and orange tulle! Pink really was the colour of the night for a lot of the celebrities! Helen also showcased a spectacular display of Harry Winston jewels around her neck!

    Julia Roberts

I don’t think I can do a roundup of Oscar style without including the beauty that is Julia Roberts. Julia presented one of the awards wearing this stunning pink Elie Saab dress. She looked so beautiful with the one shoulder and asymmetrical hem line.

So there you have it, my favourite looks from this year’s Academy Awards. There are so many beautiful gowns to choose from – who was your favourite?
