Even though it’s still very cold outside and despite
the fact we even had snow this week in the Midlands, I am still dreaming of my spring
fashion!
I love the softer and lighter colour palettes that we
start to see in stores for the new season ahead! It’s nice to see an end to wearing
the darker tones and bring out the brighter side of our style.
You can use pieces that you already have in your
wardrobe to freshen up any look and today I am going to show you 5 ways to get
that ‘spring’ into your step! J
1. Add a pop of colour
Adding a splash of colour to your outfit will
instantly lift it and brighten up those dark and drab days. Although the
weather isn’t exactly sun dress appropriate, we can transition our wardrobes
simply by playing with colour!
So on Sunday in true ‘Blogger’ style I wanted to
photograph my outfit of the day so I stepped outside to capture my white
backdrop! J
Here I just added a mustard jacket to a darker animal
print skirt and it just makes the outfit look a lot more cheerful!
I was just heading for dinner in the car so obviously
if I had to brave this cold weather I would add a cosy polo neck and a nice big
scarf and maybe tights too – LOL J
2. Wear more animal print
Animal print is everywhere for SS19 fashion – it is
almost like a new neutral!! You can wear it in your coats, shoes, handbags,
dresses or skirts. If you want to stay on trend this season, get yourself some
animal print! I have an article on ‘5
ways to style animal print’ over on my blog now www.thestyleflamingos.com if
you want to check that out!
Honestly there is nothing quite like these prints to
make a bold fashion statement and really brighten that OOTD (outfit of the
day!).
I adore this green leopard print jumpsuit – just had
to take a selfie in the dressing room at Marks & Spencers!! J
This is such a
statement look and perfect for a nice night out or any spring occasion! The great news its only €60!
3. Put a ‘spring’ into your accessories
Add a colourful handbag or bright shoes to give that
added dimension to your look! Accessories can really brighten up an otherwise
dark or monochromatic look! Add orange or red to your polka dots and just watch
your style come to life! Maybe add some bright coloured jewellery to make your
look pop! The statement earring is huge this season!
Or take some style inspo from the ever chic Victoria
Beckham adding her bright bold colour Hermes handbag to an otherwise neutral
toned outfit!
4. A statement print headband
Why not get involved with the headband trend and liven
up a plain or basic colour outfit with a lift in your hair accessories. How
stunning does Kate Middleton look in her green velvet headband – it just
instantly makes her whole look more perfect!
Perhaps try a
block colour if you are nervous of the trend at first and for those of you who
are braver why not add a statement print to your hair band or head scarf!
I love this
chain print one from Penneys – it really gives me such Versace vibes and for only €3!
5. Wearing a neutral palette
A few weeks ago I published my article on the ‘#50 Shades of beige trend’ and asked
the question ‘is beige the new black?!’ Honestly I think the answer is ‘yes’
especially when it comes to this transitional period in fashion. We can see
more beige, creams and other earthy tones popping into our wardrobes! It’s such
a beautiful colour palette – so elegant and fresh!
So what better way to bring your clothes to life this
season by adding some classic neutral tones to your style!
White is a stunning colour – one which looks perfect
in high summer and when the sun makes more of an appearance. Cream or beige is
a better option for this in between time before the sun greets us! It looks
stunning on a drab March day or on that perfect spring day just like the first
day of the month where the sun shone and everyone’s spirits were up!
Stay timeless, on trend and transitional with some
earth tones in your coat, your footwear and even in your denim!
Cant wait to see pictures of you transition your style for spring! Enjoy adding the splash of colour!
Love
