Alfresco Wining & Dining in Limerick City

Last week myself & Michael visited Limerick. It had been years since I was in the city and the days we were down there just happened to be during the Irish heatwave, so the weather really added to the experience! 😍

I just wanted to write this little blog post to mention a couple of places we drank & eat during our visit that I would highly recommend to anyone visiting the city this summer.

I see from my Instagram @thestyleflamingos that many of you are going on Irish staycations this year so I thought some recommendations might come in handy!

The first place we went to was The Locke Bar which is located on 3 George's Quay, Limerick. We ended up siting outside in the sunshine and enjoyed a few day time drinks (as you do! 😅). I had a few pink gins with tonic water and oh my God they were the nicest gins ever, the taste, the presentation, just everything was fab!

The staff were so efficient and friendly -  you queue up to be seated and it's a table service then for food and drinks. Note if you want to eat there, especially for dinner, you need to book to avoid disappointment. Unfortunately we didn't get a reservation but I can say that the food looked insane and it was so busy, so that is always a good sign!

It came highly recommended to us from a number of people so it's def a go to spot!

For dinner we went to a restaurant which is right next door to The Locke Bar called Rossi's Italian & Grill & the food and drinks were amazing. To start we both had the bruschetta & that was so tasty and just fab! I would it eat again right now if I had it lol 😂 Then for the main course I had a spicy meat & tomatoe pizza with garlic mayo & Michael had a chicken burger & chips. It was all to die for & I could not recommend the place enough. We had a few drinks there and it was all delicious. It is a walk in service but you may have to queue for a few minutes if you arrive at a busy time just FYI.

The staff were excellent and so friendly. I think we had our table for just under 2 hours which was perfect.

Later Saturday, the highlight of our night was visiting House Limerick which is essentially alfresco dining & cocktails on the River Shannon. I had a cocktail called 'Hugo' which had a gin, prosecco & mint combo which was amazing. Il pop a picture below. I can't remember the name of Michael's but they both looked so pretty and tasted gorgeous. I would say if you are visiting Limerick during the weekend days def. book, we were just lucky to get an available table for 2 but it is worth a visit, especially if you are going away on a girly night or for a hen!

For breakfast Sunday morning we went to The SpitJack, an award winning breakfast & brunch restaurant on Bedford Row, Limerick. It was unreal. I had a breakfast bap & Michael had the classic Jack which is poached eggs. I don't have any photographs but I can confirm it was beautiful. You just queue for a table, it's basically a walk in service.

I would love to know if you visit any of the places I have recommended or if you have any suggestions of where else is good in Limerick, drop them in the comments below.

Enjoy your staycations!
