Alfresco Wining & Dining in Limerick City

Last week myself & Michael visited Limerick. It had been years since I was in the city and the days we were down there just happened to be during the Irish heatwave, so the weather really added to the experience! 😍

I just wanted to write this little blog post to mention a couple of places we drank & eat during our visit that I would highly recommend to anyone visiting the city this summer.

I see from my Instagram @thestyleflamingos that many of you are going on Irish staycations this year so I thought some recommendations might come in handy!

The first place we went to was The Locke Bar which is located on 3 George's Quay, Limerick. We ended up siting outside in the sunshine and enjoyed a few day time drinks (as you do! πŸ˜…). I had a few pink gins with tonic water and oh my God they were the nicest gins ever, the taste, the presentation, just everything was fab!

The staff were so efficient and friendly -  you queue up to be seated and it's a table service then for food and drinks. Note if you want to eat there, especially for dinner, you need to book to avoid disappointment. Unfortunately we didn't get a reservation but I can say that the food looked insane and it was so busy, so that is always a good sign!

It came highly recommended to us from a number of people so it's def a go to spot!

For dinner we went to a restaurant which is right next door to The Locke Bar called Rossi's Italian & Grill & the food and drinks were amazing. To start we both had the bruschetta & that was so tasty and just fab! I would it eat again right now if I had it lol πŸ˜‚ Then for the main course I had a spicy meat & tomatoe pizza with garlic mayo & Michael had a chicken burger & chips. It was all to die for & I could not recommend the place enough. We had a few drinks there and it was all delicious. It is a walk in service but you may have to queue for a few minutes if you arrive at a busy time just FYI.

The staff were excellent and so friendly. I think we had our table for just under 2 hours which was perfect.

Later Saturday, the highlight of our night was visiting House Limerick which is essentially alfresco dining & cocktails on the River Shannon. I had a cocktail called 'Hugo' which had a gin, prosecco & mint combo which was amazing. Il pop a picture below. I can't remember the name of Michael's but they both looked so pretty and tasted gorgeous. I would say if you are visiting Limerick during the weekend days def. book, we were just lucky to get an available table for 2 but it is worth a visit, especially if you are going away on a girly night or for a hen!

For breakfast Sunday morning we went to The SpitJack, an award winning breakfast & brunch restaurant on Bedford Row, Limerick. It was unreal. I had a breakfast bap & Michael had the classic Jack which is poached eggs. I don't have any photographs but I can confirm it was beautiful. You just queue for a table, it's basically a walk in service.

I would love to know if you visit any of the places I have recommended or if you have any suggestions of where else is good in Limerick, drop them in the comments below.

Enjoy your staycations!

One of my must have fashion pieces in my wardrobe is a leather jacket. This is something that you can add to any outfit on an all year round basis!

Something that is incredibly versatile & worn so much is worth investing in! Last Christmas, I got the POCO black leather biker jacket from Pippa O' Connor's fashion line & I absolutely adore it!

Its such a beautiful style & the lambskin leather is just so soft & buttery! I am so glad that I got this as I feel although its a little more expensive, it will be something that I will have forever!

I will leave the link to the POCO by Pippa jacket here: -

I actually happened to pick mine up in the Kildare Village outlet when the brand had a pop up store there in December.

Its always worth investing in timeless pieces that you will style with so many outfits.

About Arlene

Hi, I'm Arlene, a full time Fashion & Lifestyle Creator @thestyleflamingos on Instagram. I am also a Law graduate, studied professionally to become both a Barrister & a Solicitor & worked in the legal industry for the best part of 10 years. Since becoming a Mammy after having my first daughter, Isabelle, 3 years ago, I have taken some time out from my legal career.

This was the best thing I have ever done, I got to stay at home with Isabelle & when she was a few months old, The Style Flamingos, my creative outlet, was born!

My Instagram & my blog gives me a space to share everything I love - fashion, style, interiors & now simply my life.

In August 2020, during the global pandemic, my second daughter Juliana was born. Life is busy now as a Mammy of 2 but I would not have it any other way! Spending everyday with my girls & being a full time Creator is my dream!

In the last 4 years, I have also built a house in the Kildare countryside with my Husband, Michael, so the interior dreaming never stops! πŸ˜ƒ I am constantly on Pinterest & on a daily basis need to remind myself that I'm not Kim K or BeyoncΓ©!! On a serious note, the ideas & inspo you can find on Pinterest is great! I am sure styling the house will be a life long journey but I am going to keep on making my mood boards & wish lists! It's good to be prepared & know what you want!

I also follow some amazing self build & home interior accounts on Instagram and they really are such an inspiration to me.

I would love for you to join me on my little journey over on Instagram @thestyleflamingos, I am on stories daily, upload a few styling reels, do regular fashion try ons, share some Mammy bits & pieces & of course my home style.

I would love to have you there x

I am also a great believer in positive vibes & as the book 'The Secret' states 'think it, believe it, receive it'.

My mantras include 'what's for you won't pass you by' and 'never be afraid to chase after your dreams'
